John E. Sigler, 69, of Mansfield, died early Monday morning, January 3, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Born November 8, 1935, in Ashland, he was the son of Royal S. and Ethel Marie Williams Sigler. John retired from the Air National Guard and was a member of the 179th Gun Club. He attended Resurrection Parish and enjoyed photography, fishing, traveling and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Jane Steel Sigler; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan and Susan Sigler of West Chester, and Steven Sigler of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Ann and Bryan Taylor of Olivesburg; four grandchildren, Michael Julie Taylor of Columbus, Joseph Taylor of Olivesburg, Alaina Sigler and Leisha Sigler, both of West Chester; a sister-in-law, Frances Sigler of Kershaw, S.C.; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Mary Steel of Mansfield and Jack Sharon Steel of Huron. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy.
Graveside services conducted by Father Mike Zacharias, will be held Thursday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Mansfield Cemetery, with military honors by Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. The family requests contributions be made to Resurrection Parish.
