Jim Caldwell, 72, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 20, 2017, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 30, 1945, in Marion, Ohio, to Robert E. and Doris (Berry) Caldwell.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for four years. He believed "Once a Marine, always a Marine". He was a member of Southview Grace Brethren Church. He loved owning and working with horses. Jim's family was most important to him and he especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Caldwell of Mansfield; wife, Lois Pfleiderer Caldwell; four children, Valorie Mounts of Lucas, Christine (Rob) Maurer of Mansfield, Michael (Tammy) Caldwell of Madison, IN, and Becky Seizmore of IN; nine grandchildren, Reuben, Reid, Riley, Miranda, Brooklyn, Robby, Blake, Skylar and Crimson; two brothers, Arnie Caldwell of TN and Steve Caldwell of Urbana, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Caldwell; sister, Carmelita Browning; and grandson, Braylen Hawkins.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Southview Grace Brethren Church. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Mark Abel will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the church with additional visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Windsor Cemetery, Mansfield with military honors by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard.
