Jerry Lee Shutt, 74, of Mansfield, Ohio, arrived in Heaven on January 25, 2017. He is now at peace. John 14:27 states "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid". NIV
He was born April 15, 1942, to Kenneth and Hazelle (Harp) Shutt in Mansfield, Ohio. Jerry graduated from Madison High School in 1960. He then attended Kent State University and, in 1961, he joined the Army where he served his country in France.
Jerry was a member of Ridgeway First Church of God and played the piano for various services through the years. He enjoyed walking around town and he loved to bowl. Jerry spent many hours working on his technique. His favorite restaurant was The Coney Island Inn on the Square. He loved the spaghetti and ate there nearly every day.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his Aunt Madie and Uncle Harry Eyerly who saw to his welfare until their deaths. Left to remember him are his brother, James (Leta) Shutt; nephews, Jeffrey (Charlene) Shutt and Edwin Shutt; niece, Michelle Shutt, all of Anchorage, Alaska; three great-nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank Bill and Trudy, owners of The Coney Island Inn, and their employees for the kindness shown to Jerry. They were always very caring and concerned for Jerry's welfare over the years.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service conducted by Pastor John Dodds will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. A private burial will be held at Mansfield Cemetery.
