Janice Lenita Stover of Mansfield, now in the arms of her loving Savior, passed away, Thursday, October 20, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Born on April 15, 1938, at home in Dorothy, West Virginia, she was the youngest out of four children of Daniel H. and Bessie (Eskins) Marrs.
Janice married the “love of her life” George after his return from the Army on February 23, 1957 in Dorothy, West Virginia. They left West Virginia shortly after they were married and took residence in Mansfield, Ohio. They shared 65 years and lovingly raised two children, Sandra K. and George D. outside of town in Mansfield.
As a homemaker, devoted and loving wife and mother, she volunteered with the elementary school and Girl Scouts. As a loving and caring friend and neighbor, she touched the lives of many. While the children grew older, she enjoyed working in retail at Hills Department and Montgomery Ward until she retired.
Family was important to Janice as a dedicated mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Cookouts, dinners, family reunions, holidays or just sitting one on one was a passion she enjoyed. Upon retirement, trips to Virginia and Florida to visit family with their pet dog, Jake, was a yearly retreat they both enjoyed together.
Janice was a courageous, beautiful, and determined individual who, at the end of her life, held on to her faith. She will be greatly missed by her husband, George Stover, Jr.; her daughter, Sandra K. Stover; her son, George D. (Etta) Stover; her grandchildren, Samuel Parks, Daniel (Brittany) Stover, Leonard (Melody) Parks, Jayson (Heather) Stover, Brandon (Shannon) Stover, Joshua (Christina) Smith and Elizabeth (Matt) Rhea; her great grandchildren, Caleb Parks, Nathan Parks, Orion (Hailey) Parks, Julie Ann Parks, David Parks, Samantha Parks, Savannah Stover, Wyatt Stover, Noah Stover, Bryson Parks, Olivia Parks, Adelynn Stover and Amelia Stover; her sister, Phyllis (Marrs) Keys of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Marrs and her sister, Dreama (Marrs) Alexander.
She will be missed immensely by her family and friends, but they know she is with her loving Savior.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lexington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
