Janet Peters passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in London, Ohio, on October 6, 1941, to James and Malinda Peters, Janet’s life was one of quiet strength, independence, and unwavering support for her loved ones.
A private and reserved person by nature, Janet’s generosity knew no bounds. She was always there for those who needed her, offering a helping hand whenever it was needed. Her love for family, animals—especially her beloved dachshunds—and a passion for Ohio sports—OSU, the Cavaliers, the Reds, and the Bengals—were some of her greatest joys.
In her younger years, Janet enjoyed horseback riding, a hobby she continued into her 70s, demonstrating her free spirit and determination. A skilled mechanic, Janet could fix just about anything, a talent she learned from her father, James. Her love of puzzles and problem-solving made her an expert at games like solitaire on her Kindle, always seeking a new challenge to conquer.
Janet worked for 33 years at Western Electric, where she built lasting relationships and became known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She was a proud mother and was deeply devoted to her children.
Janet is survived by her children, Daniel (Kim) Peters, Kelly Peters, Jeffery (Deanna) Peters, and Mindy (Butch) Peters-Carrel; her siblings, John (Donna) Peters and Cheryl Hasson; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Peters and Malinda (Romans) Hasson; her daughter, Tammy Peters-Ortman; her siblings, Lora (Henry) Perkins, James (Miriam) Peters, Jacqueline (Carl) Lawrence, and Russell (Jean) Hasson; and her grandson, Joshua Peters.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Daniel Peters. Janet will be laid to rest at Mansfield Cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Peters family.
