James Edward "Blood" Russell Jr., 66, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly, Monday, August 21, 2017. He was born July 8, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late James Sr. Russell and Lee Esther (Jefferson) Russell.
He attended high school in Cleveland and moved to the Mansfield area in the 1970s. He had a long career as a self-employed painter. James was a generous, compassionate man who was willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by a son, Dre'An Bonner of Mansfield; two daughters, Casey Bonner of Mansfield and Tamika Bonner of Georgia; two grandchildren, Karsten Bonner and Khyla Minard; four brothers, Leroy Reed, Milton (Pat) Reed and Emmitt Reed, all of Mansfield and Maurice (Amber) Reed of Indiana; three sisters, Sylvia (Floyd) Davis of Mansfield, Janice Walker of Louisiana and Garnetta Pender of Mansfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Pender; and his significant other and mother of his children, Bessie Bonner.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
