James Russell Deschner, 72, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Sunday evening, January 5, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Deschner was born July 6, 1930 in Mansfield to Carl and Eva Ziegler Deschner and was a lifelong resident. He was the owner and operator of Deschner's Pizza. Prior to this, he was employed as a Mansfield City Fireman until his retirement and also was the owner/operator of Jim Deschner Heating and Air Conditioning. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by three daughters, Judy Heinberger and Tina Dishong, both of Lucas and Jessica Deschner of Mansfield; a son, James Russell Deschner II of Mansfield; ten grandchildren, Chris Heinberger, Matthew Heinberger, Daniel Williams, Skyler Dishong, Jerry See Jr., Trevor Garver, Mindy Wymer, Eric Berggren, Kyle Berggren and Mauri Bowman-Smith; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth White of Mansfield; and a brother, Tom Deschner of Mansfield. His parents, Carl and Eva Deschner, and grandparents, Julia and John Ziegler preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors from 12-1 p.m., Thursday, January 9. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor Craig Hamm. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
