James F. Baker, 71, of Mansfield, died Friday evening, April 29, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Born June 29, 1933, in Mansfield, he was the son of Otis Franklin and Florence Coffey Baker. James retired from Richland Auto Parts as a press operator. He was an active member of Community Baptist Bible Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and going to garage sales.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marlene Gaubatz Baker; five children and their spouses, Linda Rick Boggs, Cindy Keith Campbell, Joe Baker, all of Mansfield, Rodney Baker of Bellville and Kathy Kenny Carroll of Toledo; fifteen grandchildren, Jenny, Kelly, Steven, Dustin, Brittany, Zackary, Amanda, Jodi, Keith, Kristi, Jeremy, Matt, Kenny, Kim, and Michael; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen Martha Baker, Raymond Elaine Baker, all of Mansfield; four sisters, Shirleen Walter Kowalski, Beverly Skip Wilson, Judy Bill Milligan and Brenda Chuck Benepee, all of Mansfield; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Gaubatz of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; brothers, Virgil, Ronald, and Jerry; sisters, Donna Guegold and Joyce Johnston; and father-in-law, Mike Gaubatz.
Friends may call at the Ontario home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, May 1, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Community Baptist Bible Church, officiated by Pastor Joe Esarey.
