Isabelle Blackledge, 91 of Mansfield passed away late December 4, 2018 at Ohio Health, Mansfield Hospital. Preceded by husband Glenn W. Blackledge, parents Glenn and Helen (Witherow) Cornell and siblings Don (Phyllis) and Floyd (Gerry) Cornell. Born February 13,1927 in Holmes County Ohio, Isabelle married Glenn “Blackie” in 1949.
Isabelle and Blackie enjoyed family, raising their horses and were a fixture in the local flea market community for many years. Isabelle worked at Westinghouse for 43 years in the accounting department, which she thoroughly enjoyed and always appreciated the opportunity to work. Recruited while still a senior at Madison high school, Isabelle loved numbers and the comradery of her fellow Westinghouse employees.
In recent years, you could find Isabelle downtown just about every Friday as she enjoyed the attention and kindness of her beautician friends as she got her hair “done”. Often times followed by lunch at the Coney Island with her friend Sue. An avid Cleveland Indians fan, Isabelle kept stats and followed many a player, even long after they were traded to another team. A tireless financial supporter and defender of animal rights, children’s causes, and military veterans, Isabelle will be sorely missed by many charitable organizations.
Thank you for your love and kindness Isabelle, we miss you.
A graveside memorial will be held at the Mansfield Cemetery, Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
