

Imre Palfi, 84, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Lorantffy Care Center in Copley, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mr. Palfi was born October 13, 1927, in Ban Dvor, Yugoslavia to Imre and Rozalija Palfi.
He married Magdalena “Leni” Balnoschan in 1953. Imre and his family immigrated to Germany, Canada and finally to Mansfield, Ohio in 1968, where he proudly built his home. Imre worked as a carpenter for the German Parliament, as a millworker in Ontario, Canada and finally as a sheet-metal worker in Mansfield.
He was a member of Mansfield Liederkranz Club, Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #33 and was an avid soccer player and coach. Our “Opa” enjoyed tinkering over his work bench, handing out advice to all, and incessantly teasing his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Albert (Maria) Palfi of Westfield Center; beloved grandchildren, Jakob and Ava Palfi and Christopher Cappo; son-in-law, Jeffrey Cappo; sister-in-law, Juanita Balnoschan; nephew, Greg Balnoschan; niece, Denise Tibbs; and extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Juliana Palfi Cappo.
A funeral service will be observed Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Burial will be held at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
