Harold loved to spend time with family. He enjoyed being outdoors whether he was in the garden or cutting wood. Harold liked golfing, mushroom hunting, playing horseshoes, cornhole, Aggravation and card games, especially Monkey Rum. He also liked to do picture puzzles.
Harold is survived by his wife, Joyce (Smith) Simpson, whom he married April 24, 1954; three daughters, Kathy Jo (Kip) Howman, Kimela Sue (Ronald) Landis and Debra Lynn (James) Redman; grandchildren, Kyle Howman, Kenny Howman, Keely Smith, Abby Ramirez, Ben Landis, Melissa Landis, Greg Pearce and Josh Redman; and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Pearce; brothers, Kenneth and Donald Simpson; and sister, Marilyn Keiser.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. A funeral service will follow thereafter beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Darren Adkins officiating. The family asks that those who attend, to please wear a mask and practice social distancing. He will be laid to rest in Ashland County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North End Church of Christ.
