Harold Eugene Bean, 91, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Morrow Manor in Mount Gilead, Ohio. He was born on June 29, 1929, in Cardington, Ohio, to the late Barton and Bernice (Harding) Bean.
He graduated from Cardington High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Alaska. Harold went on to work at Wade and Gatton Nursery, Westinghouse Corp. and eventually, General Motors, where he retired after 35 years. He was married to Nova Holt Bean for 50 years until her death. At age 80, he married Penny Humphrey and they were married until her death.
Harold was a member of Brookwood Way Church of Christ and also attended Ontario Christian Church for many years. He enjoyed his daily road trips, playing cards, and attending senior dinners.
Harold is survived by a daughter, Debra (Ed) Cottrell; two grandsons, Joe (Holli) Cottrell and Dan (Carrie) Cottrell; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Paige, Cheyenne and Grayson; three step daughters, Christine, Elaine and Betsey; and a step son, Dale. In addition to his two wives and parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Franklin, Olive, Charles and Paul.
A private family service was observed. He was laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario Christian Church, 1029 Lewis Road, Ontario, Ohio 44903. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
