George was a sweet guy, and a wonderful father. He enjoyed hunting coons and rabbits, and being outdoors. George was personally involved in the Coon Hunter Club and Rabbit Beagle Club as well as the Crazy 8 CB club in earlier years. He was "Gator" on CB Radio.
George is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn (Ison) Stamper; his brother, Bill (Joann) Stamper; sister, Dardnell (Howard) Kochhiser; five sisters-in-law, Noma Lawhorn, Alma Lawhorn, Betty Fliger, Hattie Wilburn, Clotine (Wilbar) Boggs; son, Allen Stamper; step-children, Jerry (Arlene) Fliger, Jackie (Don) Elia, Jeff Fliger, Jenny (Brent) Brasseur; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Stamper; brothers, Noah Lawhorn, James Lawhorn; and sisters, Geneva Spillman, and Sherlene Stamper.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Paul Staton, will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm, also at the Diamond Street Home, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
