Esther M. Fry was called home by her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 24, 2016. She was 97 years of age. Esther, born September 16, 1918, in Shelby, Ohio, was the youngest of seven children born to S. Frank and Ida M. (Moore) Falk.
She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1936 and immediately accepted a position with the Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company. She retired in 1978 after 42 years of service and was a member of the Mansfield Tire 25 Year Club.
She was an active member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Christian Home Builders Class, Priscilla Circle, Autumn Club, and former member of Altrusa International Inc. She often expressed how much she loved her church and church family.
Esther and her husband, Robert D. Fry, were benefactors of the Richland Foundation. Esther and Bob loved to spend weekends and summers boating and fishing on Lake Erie. They also loved to entertain their family and friends often having them in for cookouts, celebrations, or to play Bridge.
Esther’s quick wit, laughter and love will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Marjorie E. Fry; nephew, Richard A. Fry; niece, Nancy A. (Edward S.) Glogowski; great-nephew, Paul Glogowski; and a very close friend, Ethel E. Lemert, all of Mansfield. She is also survived by two great-nieces, Susan K. (John) Bozarth of Eskridge, Kansas; Connie (William) Cutlip of Shiloh; four great-great nieces; one great-great nephew; and loving cousins, Michael and Betty Diemer of Lexington.
Esther was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert D. Fry, on January 2, 2006; her parents; five brothers: C. Herman, S. Virgil, D. Edward, Howard E., Glenn W.; an infant sister, Guytana Falk; and a nephew, Bobby Fry.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 1, 2016, at Main Street United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
