Edward J. Vining, 77, of Ashland, died Friday, December 21, 2007, at Crystal Care Center in Ashland. Born July 25, 1930, in Kilbourne, he was the son of Kenneth and Rachael Lane Vining. Mr. Vining loved to be outside fishing and driving on his golf cart in the woods. He enjoyed auto mechanics and could fix anything. He also enjoyed cooking and baking, and made the best peanut butter fudge and peanut brittle around. He loved to be with his family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Hughes of Perrysville and Carolyn Worstall of Ashland; two sons, George Cindy L. Vining of Butler and Michael Lisa Vining of Mansfield; 17 grandchildren, Crystal Todd Briggs, William Tiffany Caley, Brian Caley, Angel Caley Randy Stroh, Shawn Caley, Jennifer Hughes, Brandon Hughes, Eric Mount, Robyn Bryan Studer, Jerri Jason Shultz, Cindy Fred Sanicky, John Gerwig, Mark Worstall, Jr., Glen Worstall, Brittany, Breanna and Michael, Jr. Vining; 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, John Lenora Vining of Perrysville and Jim Vining of Mansfield; two sisters, Ollie Ann Donahue of California and Maybelle Vining of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Peggy Bridges Vining; a son, Carl Vining; a grandson, Jason Honeycutt; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Vining; and a sister, Margaret Etzweiler.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007, at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Chaplain Alden Thibeau. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
