
Edith Louise Troutman, 63, of St. Rt. 546, Lexington, died at home, Tuesday, March 11, 2003 after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m. at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 25 Church St., Bellville, Ohio. She was born April 26, 1939 in Ashland County. From early childhood through sixth grade, she lived in Ontario. Louise graduated from Bellville High School in 1957 and Ashland College in 1961. She began her teaching career at Buckeye High School in Medina County followed by a year at the old Bellville Junior High. Then, she went on to receive a Master's degree in Biology from the Ohio State University in 1965. She retired from a professorship at Ohio State in 1991, having taught biology for two years at Newark and then the following twenty-three at the Mansfield branch. After her retirement, she became active in many organizations, including the Malabar Farm Spinners and Weavers Guild, the Lexington Methodist Church Knotty Ladies, the Mohican Native Plant Society, and the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Bellville. She was a recent board member of the Richland County Museum.
She enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved to travel, visiting all fifty states and all the continents except Antarctica. Over the last decade, she developed a strong interest in fabric arts and related crafts, becoming adept at card-making, weaving, beading and doll-dress making. She designed and constructed award-winning non-traditional quilts. Her home and gardens reflected her unique personality. She also liked to go on long morning walks. She was a very giving person. Her enthusiasm, energy and talents will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Roger Troutman, whom she married on July 19, 1968; her daughter, Charla Louann Troutman, who resides in Arlington, Va; her son, Philip Parke Troutman and daughter-in-law, Lai-fong Yvonne Yiu, who live in San Diego, Cal.; and many cousins, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Walter Ackerman and Louise Helena Wilgus Ackerman.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at All Souls Unitarian Universalitst Church, 25 Church Street, Bellville, Ohio. Cremains will be interred at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hinckley, Ohio in a private service. Contributions in her memory may be made to the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
