
Doris Jean Owens, 71, died Tuesday morning, September 14, 2010 at Hospice of North Central Ohio after a brief illness. Born January 23, 1939 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Leta Mae Plew and Dorsey William Miller. She attended Mansfield Senior High School. Doris was a real estate agent for 27 years and was the owner of Jeffrey's House of Brides for 23 years. She enjoyed Bingo, cards and dancing. Doris's greatest joy was found in spending time with her family and taking her grandchildren to football games.
She is survived by three children, Lee Dianne Owens of Ashland, Rebecca Owens of Columbus and James Lynn Owens of Mansfield; eleven grandchildren, Ben Elizabeth Owens, Andy Jessica Owens, Leanne Owens, Molly Owens, Nick Amanda Spognardi, Billy Spognardi, Chris Nicole Spognardi, Katie Josh Spognardi Vantilburg, Tim Owens, Kim Joe Owens Brewster and Kaylee Justin Owens Chaffin; eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin Owens, Natalie Owens, Chandler Spognardi, Zane Vantilburg, Lillian Brewster, Carter Brewster, Jaydyn Chaffin and Kamden Chaffin; two brothers, Donald Phyllis Miller and Joe Donna Miller; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnny Eugene Owens.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Skip Snell will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
