
Donald J. Vidra, of Ontario, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Mifflin Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in October of 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio and had worked for the Coit Road Cleveland Fisher Body Plant. In 1964, Don transferred from there to help set up the Mansfield GM Plant from which he retired as Maintenance Director in 1985. He was an award-winning model builder who also enjoyed working in his garden and volunteering at St. Peter's and Mifflin Care Center his "second family". Having been stationed in Japan during the Korean War, Don spoke Japanese and bits of other languages and enjoyed learning about other cultures.
Don was the beloved husband of Janice and the late Josephine; a devoted father to Kathy, Kitty, Ken Shanna, Karla and Karen; loving stepfather to Pat Hartmann Tom Moore, Beth Ron McClellan and L. Jay Hartmann; grandfather "Papa Don" to Helen Orr, Mollie and Hannah Lauterback, Randy McClellan, Ryan and Calvin Moore; great grandfather to Brianna and Gisella Ochoa; brother to Barbara Vidra T.J. Leufkens. He was preceded in death by his brothers Andrew, Clarence, Steve and Joe and sister, Joyce Calhoon.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
