Donald J. "Hoss" Osborne, 87, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Avita Health System-Galion Hospital. He was born April 14, 1931, in Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Ethel Osborne.
Don graduated from Wallins Creek High School in Kentucky. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Hoss was proud of his service to his country and continued to honor those who served as a member of the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. He was a life member of Amvets Post #26 and the V.F.W. He retired in 1990 from General Motors after 30 years of service and also drove a school bus for Ontario schools until his retirement. Hoss enjoyed spending his summers at Lake Erie, fishing and boating. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and University of Kentucky fan. Hoss attended Little Flock Fellowship Church.
Don is survived by two daughters, April Bruzda of Mansfield and Jan (Alan) Dinger of Ontario; four grandchildren, Eric Bruzda of Minneapolis, MN, Tyler Bruzda of Salt Lake City, UT, Dustin Dinger of Huber Heights, OH and Emily Dinger of Ontario; two sisters, Gloria Alred of Middleburg, FL and Joyce Ann Buell of Wallins Creek, KY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra "Sandy" Lynn Snyder Osborne in April 2003; a son-in-law, Tom Bruzda; a sister, Euna Bennett; and three brothers, Charles Ray Osborne, Herbert "Nick" Osborne and Robert Osborne.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Michael D. Weaver will follow at 11:00 a.m. with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
