Donald E. Hooper of Lucas, passed away late Friday evening, August 10, 2018, one day shy of his 90th birthday. A man of great Christian belief, he is now in Heaven resting with his Lord and Savior. He was born August 11, 1928, Morgan County, Ohio, one of ten children of the late Harry W. and Hattie (Dyke) Hooper.
He graduated from Pennsville High School and retired as a tool and die maker from General Motors after 31 years of service. Don's main priority in life was taking care of his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also made a priority of his church family at Grace Bible Church where he was a deacon, trustee, and Sunday school teacher. He loved woodworking and created many items his family will treasure for years to come. He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife, Irislea, by his side. A quiet man, he enjoyed reading and listening to books on tape and gardening.
Don is survived by a son, Tim (Sherry) Hooper; daughter-in-law, Marcia Hooper; four grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Workman, Monica (John) Hecht; Matthew (Mandy) Hooper and Joshua (Jennifer) Hooper; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Shreve and Louise Jones. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irislea Anderson Hooper on February 17, 2006; son, Danny L. Hooper; and nine siblings.
Private services will be held. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Mount Zion Cemetery, Lucas, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Bible Church, 67 W. Main St., Lucas, Ohio 44843. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
