Donald "Don" Ray Miller, 76, of Mansfield, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, March 6, 2020. Don was born on May 10, 1943 in Waterloo, Ohio. He was the son of Benjamin and Dorothy (Taylor) Miller.
Don graduated from Decater-Washington High School in southern Ohio. In his early years he worked construction at Bowling Green University. He moved to Mansfield in 1964 where he worked 5 years at Humphrey's Manufacturing Foundry, then AK Steel retiring after 40 years. He was a proud union member of the USW Local 169. Many would refer to Don as a "jack of all trades" as there was nothing he couldn't fix and was a hard working man who never stopped. The protector of his family whom he loved dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was very meticulous about many things in life, one of them being his large vegetable garden that he tended with his 1968 Cub Cadet tractor. Generous to others with a servant's heart, Don always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a current member of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church and a member of Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where he was the bus mechanic. In his early years, Don enjoyed hunting with his brothers. Don was an avid sports fan and could be found cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Clowns, also known as the Browns.
Don leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Evelyn (Phillips) Miller; his son, Donnie Miller; his daughter, Traci (Tim) Trumpower; his grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) Barr, Eddie (Kory) Everhart, Anderson Miller, and Allison Miller; his great-grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, Destiny and Camden Barr; a special great-niece, Amanda "DoeDoe" Lewis; his unofficial adopted families, Tammy (Kevin) Cook, Andrea (Allen) Martin, and Brian (Amie) Morgan; his sister, Dianna (John) Henderson; his brother, Wilbert (Reggie) Miller; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and all of his good friends and the staff at the OhioHealth Fitness Center.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a daughter, Trisha Miller Everhart; his siblings, Benjamin Junior Miller, Ella Mae Ryder, Hurl Thomas Miller and Forrest Eugene Miller; and in-laws, Jack and Charline Phillips.
