The son of Delbert and Ann (Bowen) Dalton, Daryl was born on August 27, 1947 in Inez, Kentucky. He served as a medic in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War until 1967. When Daryl returned from active duty, he married the love of his life, Winnie Hinkle, on June 22, 1968.
Daryl retired in 1999 as an ASRS operator after working 30 years at General Motors in Ontario. He spent time with his much-loved grandchildren and helped care for them when they were sick, needed transportation, needed driving hours before they could get their driver’s license or just wanted to hang out. It didn’t matter the reason, Popaw was always there and would drop everything to tend to their needs as his grandchildren were the most important thing to him. While Daryl had many obstacles in his youth, he never let that define the man that he wanted to be and he not only served his family, but faithfully served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Daryl, a 25-year member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for 10 years, is survived by his beloved wife, Winnie, and his adored children and their spouses, Jeff and Lara Dalton of Perrysville, OH and Tracy and Joe Sansalone of Ontario, OH; grandchildren, Ashley Dalton (Matt) of Bethlehem, GA, Zack Dalton (Ally) and Jacob Dalton of Columbus, OH, Vinny Sansalone and Tony Sansalone of Ontario, OH; great-grandchildren, Henry Moore of Bethlehem, GA, Jace Dalton and Rory Dalton of Columbus, OH; step-grandson, Austin (Brittany) Yarman of Butler, OH; brothers, Paul (Helen) Dalton of Kissimmee, FL and Delbert Dalton, Jr. of Columbus, OH; brothers-in-law, Orville (Mary) Hinkle of Jeromesville, OH and Fred (Daisy) Hinkle of Mansfield, OH; and sisters-in-law Christine (Bud) Preece of Columbus, OH, Regina (Roy) Clifton of Mansfield, OH and Linda Dalton of Amanda, OH.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hubert Dalton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Opal Hinkle; brother-in-law, Herman Hinkle; sister-in-law, Loretta Hinkle; and sister-in-law, Debbie Dalton.
