Curtiss H. Honaker, 88, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at The Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing Center in Ashland. He was born March 26, 1929, in Pickens, South Carolina, to the late Luther and Nanny (Hess) Honaker.
Curtiss grew up in West Virginia and worked at various sawmills and in the gas industry. Later, he worked at the steel mill, for the City of Mansfield and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He never missed a day of work. Curtiss was a wonderful provider for his family and put them first in all of his decisions.
He is survived by a son, Tom (Mary) Honaker of Mansfield; daughter, Terri Cox of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Keri Juhlke of Mansfield, Tobi (Tony) Hester of Crawfordville, FL, and Kelli (Steve) Lenker of Dublin, OH; and six great-grandchildren, Adam, Olivia, Craigen, Stephen, Briton and Ty. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Honaker; son, John Honaker; two sisters; and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery beside his beloved wife.
