Chuck was born in Berea, Ohio, on June 15, 1947 to Charles L. Armstrong and Margaret Conley of Strongsville. He attended schools in Strongsville and graduated from Strongsville High School in 1965. Chuck was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and served as a Drill Sergeant until he was sent overseas to Vietnam. He served as a Platoon Leader in the infantry with the 82nd Airborne until November, 1969, earning five medals during his service and was honorably discharged.
After returning home to Ohio he obtained an AA Degree in HVAC and worked for various companies in the Cleveland area doing service work. Chuck accepted a job with Arizona Public Service Co at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (Tonopah, Arizona) in 1987 and was a Foreman and Supervisor of the HVAC department at the Plant until his retirement in 2007. Chuck was respected and loved by many employees and subordinates. He and Debra shared numerous adventures form his bucket list traveling to 20 different countries and 47 states in the United States during his retirement days. Chuck cherished these memories and carried them with him on his final journey to Heaven.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Debra (Deb) Armstrong; two sons, Charles (Delia) and Christopher (Barbara) of Arizona; four step children, Anjanette King of Idaho, Jared (Alana) King of Arizona, Jason (Katie) King of California and Nathan (Emily) King of Utah; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Chuck will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends that shared in his life.
A memorial service will be held in Chuck's honor at the Ashland Dickey Church of the Brethren, 1509 Township Road 655, Ashland, Ohio 44805 at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 conducted by Pastor Jeff Messner. The Ashland Honor Guard will conduct full military services at the church at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chuck's name to the church.
