Celinda ' Lin' H. Harkness, 62, of Bellville, Ohio died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at Country Meadow Care Center in Bellville as a result of a rare brain disease. Mrs. Harkness was born April 29, 1941 in New York, New York living in the Bellville area since 1986. She was active in Philomathian, the Mansfield Playhouse, and past president of the Mansfield Richland County Humane Society. She received The Human Relations Award from the City of Mansfield in 1999.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Harkness of Bellville; two sons, Jeffrey Harkness of Denver, Colorado and Sean Harkness of New York City; and a brother, Hugh Hardy of New York City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gelston and Madelyn Wood Hardy.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Wray C. Smith. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Richland County Humane Society or the North Central State College Foundation.
