Carol Jean (Baki) Spain, a resident of Madison Township, passed away peacefully with her immediate family by her side on December 23, 2016 following an extended illness. Carol was the first born of six children to Albert and Patricia Baki on July 17, 1944 in Mansfield, Ohio.
She was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School class of 1962, and The Ohio State University class of 1965 with a BS in Dental Hygiene. Carol was a dental hygienist for 25 years prior to opening Professional Image Uniform Store with her sister Janet Scharosch. Carol enjoyed many past-times, especially traveling (Hawaii, Europe and Africa) with her family, as well as vacationing during the winter months in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Carol is survived by her husband of nearly fifty years, David; a daughter, Karen (Robert) Spain-Blunk of Columbus; two sons, Kevin (Heather) Spain of Delaware, Ohio, and Keith (Sarah) Spain, of Columbus; three grandchildren, Lizzie and Sam Blunk, and Atticus Spain; sisters, Joy (Jim) Huber of Wauseon, Janet (Jerry) Scharosch of Mansfield and Sharon (Art) Majtenyi of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Gary (Jane) Baki of Kansas City, MO, Michael Baki and his wife Dr. Kerry Barnett of Blairstown, NJ; sister-in-law, Susan (Jim) Bernbeck of Rochester, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, Albert and Patricia Baki.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be held immediately following. Burial will be in the Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
