Carol A. Merritt, 55, of Lexington, passed away September 2, 2018 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Born January 11, 1963 in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Janet (Morrison) Poorman.
Carol graduated from Madison Comprehensive High School in 1981. She graduated from the University of Toledo in 1985 with a degree in marketing. While in college, Carol was a part of the band in the percussion section.
During college, Carol met her husband, Tony. Tony and Carol worked together at K-Mart. They resided in Toledo until 1993, when they moved to Lexington.
Carol worked in the food service department for Lexington Local Schools for the last 14 years. She loved working with the kids and supporting them in school and their athletics. She had a way of making them smile, even on their bad days through her humor and sarcasm.
On the weekends, you would catch Carol constantly watching either the Red Zone, the Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Indians. She was an avid sports fan and regularly watched any game on TV, if it was not a game on the TV, it was always The Golden Girls.
Carol was one to do anything for her family and friends. Carol and her husband enjoyed frequent game nights, dinner dates, and bringing in every new year with the Scheibers. Carol and Tony would enjoy spending their time together with frequent trips to Amish Country and their yearly trip to Hilton Head Island.
Anyone that knew Carol, knew that her and Danielle were a pair to never be separated. As best friends, they did everything together. Carol loved coming to Delaware and spending endless hours shopping and laughing together, she enjoyed helping Danielle’s classroom every year, many road trips together, and everything in between. Carol never missed an event of Danielle’s as a student, athlete, and now coach. Carol regularly spent her time with Danielle’s best friend, Tinleigh Nicole, who she always considered her second daughter. Carol was very proud of Danielle and her husband Chris in all that they have done and continue to do, she made sure everyone knew.
