C. George Ridenour

C. George Ridenour, 88, of Bellville, Ohio, passed away just after midnight, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born December 9, 1929, in Bellville, to the late Russell and Margarta C. (Walters) Ridenour.

George retired from Duff Trucking after over 20 years of service. He was a quiet man who was perfectly comfortable being in the background. He was very precise and conscientious in his work and enjoyed carpentry work. A natural born storyteller, he loved reminiscing about the "good old days". George was an excellent father and wonderful provider for his family. He was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville. In his free time, he enjoyed watching racing.

He is survived by his wife, Romota Butterbaugh Ridenour; three children, Kathy (Tom) LaRowe, Cameron (Dawn) Ridenour and Bradley (Dottie) Ridenour; seven grandchildren, Amy (Dennis) Mathis, Benjamin (Kellie) Ridenour, Robert (Amy) Ridenour, Daniel (Jeanie) Ridenour, Todd (Amy) LaRowe, William LaRowe and Katharine Ridenour; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Mathis, Jeremiah Mathis, Alysson Ridenour, Austin Ridenour, Aidan Ridenour and Ellie Ridenour; and a great-great grandchild, Kamryn Mathis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jacob Mathis; and step father, Ralph Lauppe.

A memorial service conducted by Pastor Douglas J. Pretorius will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 48 Church St., Bellville. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Jefferson Township Fire Department. Wappner Cremation Center is privileged to serve the family.
