Bobby was born in Rowan County, North Carolina on May 1, 1943. He was the son of Melvin and Margaret (Corriher) Shook. Bobby was a veteran, serving in the United States Army. He retired after 33 years of service with the Mansfield Fire Department. He was Smokey the Bear for the fire department for many years, and served as President of the Fire Museum and Bingo Hall. He was an avid golfer and played softball with the fire department team.
He is survived by his daughters, Hali Parsons and Angela (Anthony) DeNero; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (David) Enzor, Lucas (Olivia) Parsons, Kristin Boyd, Travis (Dori) Boyd, and Nicole (Lee Snyder) Boyd; his great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Ellie Parsons, Jackson Enzor, Jadin Weatherbee, and Jack and Brooks Boyd; his sister, Bonnie Shook Myers; his nephew, Conley (Jennifer) Myers; and his niece, Darcy (Michael) Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Ryan Parsons; and brother-in-law, Joseph Myers.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Mansfield Fire Museum, 1265 W. 4th Street. He will be laid to rest at a later date at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mt. Ulla, North Carolina.
