Betty Colleen (DeLaney) Grafton , 86, of Mansfield, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister spread her eloquent and graceful wings and transcended into the Heavens on January 28, 2017.
Betty was born on October 15, 1930 to the parents of Harry and Loa DeLaney. She was a happy and mischievous little girl with fondness for all that glittered and glowed. Throughout her lifetime the Renaissance Theater always held a special place in her heart evoking idyllic childhood memories. Betty and her family owned the first Lincoln, Mercury and Edsel car dealership in Mansfield. Later she worked at Bank One, attended The First Congregational Church, and served as a MedCentral Health System Hospice board member.
Betty's happy and mischievous temperament grew as the years passed. She found a great appreciation for fine art, flowers and fresh air. Contented days found her picking a fragrant bouquet, visiting Kingwood Center and walking hand-in-hand with Mother Nature. Many special times were spent playing on her magic vacuum, bonding time building birdhouses and eating cinnamon and sugar toast together.
Cherished survivors include her devoted daughter, Sabra Grafton; treasured grandchildren, JJ (Regina) Carr, Mandy (Michael) Carpenter, Andrea (Zack) Alleshouse and Cody Stoodt; adored great grandchildren, Keirstyn Carpenter, Allaura Carpenter, Jacob Carr, Nash Alleshouse, and Kaylee Turner; precious great-great grandchild, Carter Cutlip; special sisters, Janet (Fred-deceased) Austin and Ramona (Eugene-deceased) Smith; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and loyal friends.
Preceding in death by her loving daughter, Kristin Neal-Stoodt, darling husband, Joel Grafton, dear brother Leo "Butch" DeLaney and her doting parents.
We know our loved one is at peace and we have been blessed beyond measure having been loved by her. You are invited, in Betty's remembrance, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd., on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Private family graveside services will take place Friday, February 10, 2017. Given Betty's adoration for children, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
