Betsy Howell, 84, of Crestline passed away at Lexington Court Care Center on Saturday, June 2, 2018. She was born on July 11, 1933 in Boone, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Earl and Mary Lillian (Lyons) Norris.
Betsy attended Crossroads Community Church. She was employed as an independent tax consultant, and she offered her services to people in need. She was affectionately known as the "cat lady", because she was always collecting stray cats, finding homes for them, or keeping them as her own. She was a people person and never met a stranger. Betsy loved cooking for her family and sharing her famous angel biscuits and enjoyed having everyone over for a cookout. She had a knack for landscaping and had beautiful gardens and flowers. She was generous with her talents as well, as she loved to sew and would often make doll clothes for charities and clothes for her daughters.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Tom Howell; son, Ron (Nancy) Howell of Mansfield; daughter, Cheryl (Jeff) Howell Gaddis; step grandchildren, Jessica (Dereck) Nauman and Anna Gaddis both of Delaware, Ohio, and Angie (Ryan) Parker of Mansfield; sister, Clare Pennington of Boone, NC; sisters-in-law, Lorae Norris of North Wilkesboro, NC, Sarah Norris of Boone, NC and Katheryn Norris of Boone, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Willis Norris, Merrill Norris and Billy Norris.
