Barbara Alice (Perrine) Crawford, age 87 went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 11, 2018 surrounded by her family at OhioHealth Hospital Mansfield, following a brief illness. She joins her husband and the love of her life, Calvin with whom she shared a love story for 60 years.
Barbara was born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1931 and graduated from High School at Townsend Twp. She lived in the Sandusky area until 1983 when she and Calvin moved to Marion, Ohio to be closer to their son, Douglas and his family. She moved with them to Shelby in 2012. She enjoyed crocheting, was an avid reader and gardener, loved antique collecting, doing crossword puzzles and genealogy but most of all traveling. She treasured nature and animals and along with her son Douglas and his wife Charlene (her best friend) with whom she resided, loved adventure day-tripping on the roads of Ohio. She owned and operated businesses in Sandusky, Marion and Waldo with Calvin and she was a Notary Public and auction clerk for several decades.
Barbara was of the deepest faith and was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Parish in Shelby, Ohio.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Calvin and son Donald, both in 2008, her sister Inez Ziegler, 2001 and her parents, Clifford Dale Perrine, 1976 and Rosanell (Debo) Perrine, 2013. Her mother Rosanell lived to be 101 She is survived by her son Douglas Crawford (Charlene), Shelby, and her daughter Elizabeth Richards, Findlay. Barbara also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Cheryl (Jason) Vance, Grove City, Calvin (Chelsea) Crawford, Higginsville, Missouri, Benjamin (Katherine) Crawford, Mansfield, Kali (Matthew) Sexton, Delaware and Thomas Crawford (Kimberly Rinehart), Bucyrus, Paul (Amy) Crawford, Cincinnati, Bailey Poland, Findlay, Hannah Richards, and James B. Richards, Findlay. She also leaves behind 19 great grandchildren and her two dogs that miss her terribly, Pup-Pup and Brutus.
At Barbara’s request, a private burial will take place at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge, Ohio where she will be laid to rest alongside of Calvin. A Family Celebration of Life to follow at a later date. Barbara’s wish was that no one suffer any sadness at her passing but remember her with joy and love.
Donations in her name can be made the Humane Society of Richland County to help animals in need. The Wappner Cremation Center is honored to serve the Crawford family.
