Arlyce E. Russ, 74, of Ashland, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Born December 7, 1940 in Monroe County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Henry Redolphus and Opal Marie (Smith) Wiley.
She retired from Abbott Labs after 31 years of service and was a member of the Abbott Labs retirees club. She attended Ashland Church of Christ and was an avid craftswoman working with various items especially wood and ceramics. She enjoyed gardening and playing Bingo but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Michael (Donna) Pyles, Douglas Pyles and Craig Pyles all of Ashland; four grandchildren, Casey Pyles, Allissa Adkins, Brittney Pyles and Mary Burkepile; 15 great grandchildren, Blane, Ryleigh, Kaleb, Kadon, Karson, Jena, Jacius, Jeffrey, Gavin, Bryce, Maddy, Johnathon, Gracie, Jessie, and Kali; one sister, Linda Caldwell of Howard; two brothers, Donald (Dorothy) Wiley of Canfield and Daniel (Ruth Ann) Wiley of Burbank; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Pyles; one sister, La Fonda Foster; and two brothers, James Wiley and Lloyd Wiley.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at the funeral home conducted by Minister Tim Nowlin. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
