Anthony "Tony" Adkins, 49, of Mansfield passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at his home. He was born September 13, 1968 in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the beloved son of William and Arvetta (Griffith) Adkins.
Anthony was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army. Anthony was employed at Pentair as a mill operator, and attended Mansfield Alliance Church. Anthony was an avid Ohio State Buckeye's fan and faithfully watched every game with his brother-in-law, Mike and his nephew, Kaden. He had a remarkable sense of life. He shared his love and his gift of joy and laughter with many. In addition to cheering on the Buckeyes, he was a life long Raider's fan as well, but his favorite athlete to watch was his daughter playing softball. Anthony enjoyed playing cards with his mom and dad, bass fishing with his brother-in-law, Bob as well as golfing and watching boxing.
Left to cherish the many fond memories are his wife of 22 years, Gretchen Adkins; his daughter, Karly Adkins; son, Kyle Mitchell; father, William Adkins; brothers, Dave Adkins, Jimmy (Kim) Adkins and Rob (Pam) Adkins; sister, Angie (Anthony) Raymondo; four brothers-in-law, Bob (Liz) Collins, Mike (Bridgette) Vavra, Karl (Kim) Lamp and John (Jill) Lamp; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Arvetta Adkins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11am-1pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. A memorial service celebrating Anthony's life will follow at 1pm at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Mark Thomas. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, 248 Park Ave. West, Mansfield, OH 44902.
