December 8, 1944 – April 6, 2025
Magda Helene Jakobs, 80, crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully at home on April 6, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved family and the many furry friends she cherished and helped give a better life.
Magda was born in Obenaltendorf, Germany, on December 8, 1944. As a teenager, she moved to Lacey Township, NJ, where she graduated from Central Regional High School. She went on to enjoy a long and successful career as a legal administrator with Warner Music Group in New York City before retiring and settling in Whiting, NJ.
In Whiting, Magda found her true passion: animal rescue. Through her dedication to trap-neuter-return (TNR), she helped thousands of cats live healthier, safer lives. Many found their furrever homes thanks to her love and tireless work.
She is survived by her sister, Karin Kornelsen; her niece, Jennifer Schaal, and Jennifer’s husband, Kevin Schaal; and her niece, Tanya Kornelsen. Magda was predeceased by her parents, Hans and Kathe Jakobs.
As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life of immense love, generosity, and kindness. Her spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to know her. Magda's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched—whether two- or four-legged.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Magda’s memory to: Animal Birth Control, Inc.P.O. Box 353, Pine Beach, NJ 08741. Condolences and tributes for the Jakobs family can be left on this website.
