Leona Heinzelmann, 91, of Manchester Township, NJ, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday July 18, 2023. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Lee grew up in Bayonne. When she and Fred married, they lived in several places including Oakland, CA, Sicily and Aruba, before settling in Fanwood. They moved to Manchester Township in 2003.
Lee worked as a teacher for many years including Cranford, Oakland, CA and Scotch Plains. When teaching was completed, she became a travel agent. She helped others share in the experiences of traveling she so enjoyed.
She was very active in many of the clubs of the Renaissance, including the Womens, Bridge, Mahjong, Book, Bunco and the Wine Club. She was also a parishioner of Saint Luke’s RC Church in Toms River, where she loved singing with the choir. Lee loved life and loved her family; she will be greatly missed.
Lee is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Fred J. Heinzelmann, her loving sons; John Heinzelmann and his wife Mary Shannon, David Heinzelmann and his wife Dina, her cherished grandchildren; Makena, Chris, Drew and Kim, and her dear brothers; Norbert Bozek of Hudson, FL and Gregory Bozek of Cedar Hills, TX. Lee was predeceased by her daughter Kim and brother Theodore Bozek.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday July 22, 2023, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759, from 1-4 pm. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday July 24, 2023, at 10:30 am, at Saint Luke’s RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River, NJ 08755.
