John “Jack” Wolf born on January 25, 1936 in North East, PA went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Jack was predeceased by his wife Karen Wolf (nee Souers), his parents Kenneth and Martha Wolf, his sister, Patricia Mead of North East, PA and son Steven K. Wolf of Lakewood, NJ. Jack was active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manchester, NJ and past member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, North East, PA.
Jack was a retired US Navy Petty Officer, 1st Class with tours on the USS Saratoga and Guantanamo Bay. He was the current Commander of Post 1 of Manchester, NJ, past Commander of Post 2 of Lakehurst, NJ and past State Commander of the New Jersey Chapter of AMVETS. Jack received numerous recognitions in his efforts help American veterans including the AMVETS' most prestigious national honor, The Silver Helmet Award, which is presented annually to distinguished Americans who have made significant contributions in the fields of Americanism, congressional service, civil service, peace, defense and rehabilitation.
He will be sadly missed by his surviving son John A. Wolf Jr. of Bradley Beach, NJ; his daughter Lisa A. Mercer and husband E. Alan Mercer of Galloway, NJ. Also, surviving are his two wonderful grandchildren, granddaughter Erin Mercer and grandson Bryan Mercer both of Galloway, NJ, sister-in-Law Sally Valone and husband Chuck of Girard, PA, nephew Scott Mead of Columbia, MD and many other nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM Tuesday, July 9, at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10AM on Wednesday, July 10. Interment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park.
