Doris Jean Daniels Cherry (affectionately known as Jean), 74, of Manchester passed away Wednesday October 31, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Winterville, NC, Jean resided in Red Bank and Long Branch prior to moving to Manchester in 1969. Jean graduated from Georgian Court University with her Bachelor’s Degree. She worked as a Social Worker for the Monmouth County Head Start Program in Monmouth County. Doris was a former Domestic Violence Counselor, Literacy Tutor, Substitute Teacher in Ocean County, Home Health Aide, NJ State Licensed Child Care Provider, studied Alcohol and Substance Counseling and most currently a volunteer caregiver of Central Jersey. Jean wore many hats but one that she was most proud of was her time with her family and Harmony Ministries where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, Nursery Room Helper, Missions Outreach Volunteer, Woman’s Fellowship member and just being part of a family within the Church. She was a former Secretary of the Daniels Family Club of NJ and will be missed by all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents, Bert and Esther Daniels, Jean is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Isiah, her three devoted daughters, Christala Cherry of Manchester, Juanita Cherry of Manchester and Monica Cherry-Yelverton and her husband Daryl Yelverton of Edgewater Park, NJ. Jean is also survived by her adoring grandson Isiah Daniels Sams and step granddaughter Cailyn Yelverton, her brothers, Aulander Daniels, Roy Daniels and his wife Martha Law-Daniels, Michael Daniels, Milton Daniels, Louie Daniels and his wife Talesha Beamon, her sisters Elizabeth Gilmore, Francine Glass, Shirley Barton and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Celebration of Jean’s life will be celebrated on Monday November 5, 2018 at Harmony Ministries, 401 Chestnut Street, Lakehurst, NJ 08733 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville, NJ.
