Anthony P. “Tony” Urciuoli passed away Wednesday October 31, 2018 quietly in his home in Manchester, New Jersey at the age of 101. He is predeceased by his wife Norma DiDario Urciuoli and will be deeply missed by his three children, Richard Urciuoli and his wife Kathy Daniel, Sunnyside, NY, Paula Green, Shrewsbury, MA, and Lisa Blom and her husband Ken, Scotch Plains, NJ; his two sisters, Lisa Ferry, Tinton Falls, NJ and Helen Appezzato, Westfield, NJ; his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews.
A native of Westfield, NJ, Tony was one of seven children of Joseph and Marie Urciuoli. He graduated from Westfield High School and raised his family with his wife Norma in Plainfield, NJ. He worked for the Courier News, first as a linotype operator and later as assistant foreman of the composing room when the newspaper became a part of the Gannett family. Tony was also a veteran of the Coast Guard and very proud of his six years of service during WWII.
Tony was an avid golfer most of his life, playing and enjoying the game from the time he was a teen until he turned 100 years old. He was well known for his golfing acumen having won numerous tournaments culminating with the Courier News Tony Award being named after him.
Tony was a great story teller and loved to share stories of his past with family and friends. Many sought his advice and counsel through life, which he provided with great joy and wisdom. He lived a long and purposeful life filled with family, friends and lots of golf.
Family and Friends may gather Tuesday November 6, 2018 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ 08759 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm with services to begin at 7:15 pm. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday November 7, 2018 11 am at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
