Sandy was born in Nashua, the oldest daughter of Gregory and Helen (Tsimtsos) Lekas. She was a graduate of Manchester Central High School and Notre Dame College. Her family also included her two younger siblings, Valerie and Jonathan, with whom she was extremely close throughout her life. Sandy enjoyed family trips to Hampton Beach, cooking her mother’s Greek recipes, and spending time sitting by the pool with her sister.
At age 15, Sandy met her husband, Charles “Chaz” Knight. Their marriage was the epitome of friendship and love. They spent 47 wonderful years together and were completely devoted to each other. Their life was full of laughter, joy, and trips around New England in search of the most delicious food they could find.
Family was the most important thing to Sandy; she and her siblings spoke daily and were best friends. Sandy and Chaz considered each of their nieces and nephews to be like their own children. Sandy was warm, nurturing, and had an amazing sense of humor. She was considered a second mother to many in her life.
There will be a hole in the heart of each who knew and loved Sandy. She is survived by her husband, Charles, her sister, Valerie Doucet, and Valerie’s husband, Marc, along with her brother, Jonathan Lekas, and too many nieces, nephews, and cousins to list.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at McHugh Funeral Home in Manchester from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am.
The family extends their appreciation to all the doctors and nurses who helped Sandy in her battle with pancreatic cancer, especially Dartmouth Cancer Center in Manchester who supported her through treatments and those at the Elliot Hospital who did everything they could to make her comfortable in the final weeks of her life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McHughFuneralHome.com for the Knight family.
