Roland F. Doiron, Sr., 91, of Manchester, died March 30, 2018 at the Catholic Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Manchester on December 17, 1926, the son of Leandre and Caroline (Michon) Doiron and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was educated in the local school system and attended Hesser College.
He was a proud veteran of the US Navy during World War II and received the Victory Ribbon and the American Area Ribbon. He was the owner of Roland’s Janitor & Lawn Service and throughout his career he was a hardworking man who wasn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty while working alongside his employees. He was also employed at Waumbec Mills, Moore Business Forms and St. Anselm College. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the former St. Patrick’s Church. He loved getting together with family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand when needed. Following his retirement, he was a participant at the Easter Seals Day Program. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Constance M. Clark in 2014 and by his brothers Albert Doiron and Leo Doiron and his sister Irene Miller.
Members of his family include his sons Roland Doiron, Jr. and his wife Sylvie of Nottingham and David Doiron of Manchester, his daughters Elizabeth Flynn of Florida and Barbara Roberts and her husband David of Hooksett, his eight grandchildren Lynn Griffin and her husband Kyle, Jennifer Lanchoney and her husband Matt, Christopher Flynn and his partner Victor Colon, Bryan Flynn, Jesse Roberts, Jared Roberts, Jacob Roberts and Jadyn Roberts, six great-grandchildren Kyle Griffin Jr., Colby Griffin, Brayden Lanchoney, Lila Lanchoney, Veyda Roberts and Destiny Rivera, and his sister Doris Desfosses of Portland, Maine as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday April 15 from 1 to 4 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Memorial Service was celebrated on Monday April 16 at 11 am at the Parish of the Transfiguration 107 Alsace St. in Manchester. Urn burial with military honors followed at 1 pm in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
