Rachel Lavallee, age 90, of Manchester, NH passed away peacefully on September 14, 2022 at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH. Born on March 19, 1932 in Manchester, NH, Rachel was the daughter of Arthur and Rachel (Laliberte) Provencher.
A New Hampshire native, Rachel loved being a mother and raised 11 children with her loving husband, Ronaldo. She loved to provide for her family and took great pleasure in making things from scratch. Every new arrival in the family was guaranteed to receive a handmade Icelandic knitted sweater and even when her children were young, she made clothes for her daughter’s Barbie dolls. She loved to cook, especially during the holiday season where she could pull out all the stops.
Playing card games was customary in the Lavallee household and her children fondly remember many games around the table where laughter was carried throughout their home. Rachel loved to get the family together and play an old English card game called “Whist.” Quality time with her family was truly the highlight of her life and she had a special place in her heart for children. In her downtime, she enjoyed basking in the sunshine during the warmer seasons.
Rachel was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua and a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Sodalite. She loved attending church and when she was no longer able to physically attend, she remained close with her Priest and continued to worship in her own personal way. Rachel touched many lives and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children; Elaine Lavallee of Manchester, Denise Lavallee of Manchester, Cecile Lavallee and her spouse Anne Toothaker of Maine, Jaye Emrich and her spouse Leon Jr. of Manchester, Vivian Howard from Florida, Celeste Lavallee of Concord, Paulette Emrich and her spouse George of Manchester, Normand Lavallee and spouse Susie of Goffstown, Rachel Steele and spouse Bill of Manchester, Phyllis Tremble and her spouse Steven of Manchester, Christine Lavallee of Manchester; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Rachel is predeceased by her husband Ronaldo Lavallee and siblings; Cecile, Bill, Roger, Gerard and Arthur.
