Paul E. Provencher, 88, of Bedford, formerly of Merrimack, died June 3, 2017 at Courville at Nashua after a brief illness. He was born in Manchester on January 2, 1929 the son of Albert G. and Marie A. (Poulette) Provencher. He was educated in the Manchester school system and graduated from St. Joseph High School (now Trinity) and the New Hampshire Technical College. He moved his family to Nashua in the early 1960’s and spent most of his adult life living in Nashua and Merrimack and most recently resided at Bentley Commons in Bedford.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Crisis. Following his discharge, he returned to Manchester where he worked as an Electro-Mechanical Designer/Draftsman and was employed by the Lockheed/Sanders Corporation in Nashua for over 30 years.
Paul enjoyed sports both as a player and coach. He was a previous member of the Sanders Bowling League and a current member for many years of the Buckmeadow Bowling Club in the Merrimack Ten Pin League. He was also a member of the Buckmeadow Golf Course and was a talented ballroom dancer. He was dedicated to youth and coached for over 20 years. He coached CYO basketball and baseball teams in Nashua North and Northwest Little Leagues. A man of strong faith, Paul was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Francis Xavier Church and a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church for over 40 years. He loved getting together with family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Paul was a huge supporter of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching all of their activities and sporting events.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Lorraine (Laporte) Provencher in 2007 and by his brothers Roger Provencher, Marcel Provencher and George Provencher.
Members of his family include his sons Kenneth Provencher and his wife Karen of Corvallis, OR, Richard Provencher and his wife Barbara of Manchester, Daniel Provencher and his wife Colleen of Nashua and his daughter Donna Parrott and her husband Tim of Nashua, seven grandchildren Christopher Provencher and his wife Rachel, Andrew Provencher, Kendra Provencher, Bernard Provencher, Chantel Denapoli and her husband Josh, Corey Parrott and his wife Meghan, Sonia Parrott, three great-grandchildren and his sister Pauline Hebert and her husband Roger of Manchester as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff at Bentley Commons Assisted Living in Bedford where Paul lived for 1.5 years and also the staff Courville at Nashua and the Merrimack Home Health and Hospice who provided care and comfort during his last weeks.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service was celebrated on Wednesday June 14 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church 16 Baboosic Lake Rd. in Merrimack and a Celebration of his Life at the Parrott’s home in Nashua immediately followed the service. Urn burial was on Thursday June 15 at 10 am in St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester.
