Maureen Louise Welch, 72, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Maureen was born on August 24, 1949 in Manchester, and was the daughter of the late Patrick Joseph and Irene Lumina Welch (Despins).
Maureen was a lifelong resident of Manchester. She graduated in 1967 from Immaculata High School and entered Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing that September in Manchester. She worked as a staff nurse and then returned to become a freshman instructor at the CMC School of Nursing until its closure in 1981. She was employed at Catholic Medical Center for over 45 years until her retirement in 2019. She enjoyed spending her summers with friends and family at the “Irish Mist” family beach house in Hampton Beach. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots, spending time with her family and dog, Buddy, and taking care of others before herself.
She is survived by her brother Bill Welch and his wife Lise of Epping; niece Karen Perault and her husband Matthew of Nashua; nephews Marc Welch and his wife Val of Hooksett, Michael Welch and his wife Kari of Dixhills, NY; 8 grand nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and many loving friends. She is predeceased by her sister Patricia Welch.
A visitation will be held at 10am on Saturday January 8, 2022 at St. Joseph Cathedral located at 145 Lowell St in Manchester with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11am. A burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery located at 448 Donald St in Bedford, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the Merrimack Community Hospice House.
