Mary Mitchell, 91, of Manchester, died June 25, 2016 at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Manchester on January 4, 1925 the daughter of James and Anastasia (Kalambokas) Gerasi and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. She was educated in the local school system.
She was employed for many years as a salesperson at the Modern Bridal Shop in downtown Manchester. Mary was a long time and very active member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church and was always ready to volunteer at their craft bazaar. She loved socializing with her many friends and was a member of the Bedford Seniors Organization. She was an avid reader and was talented at numerous crafts. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, sister and aunt.
She was predeceased by her husband Perry Mitchell in 1981 and by her brother George Gerasi.
Members of her family include her sister Jennie Kiestlinger and her husband Ray, her niece Shana Rousseau and her husband Steven and her nephew Danny Blondeau all of Bedford and her great-nephews Danny Blondeau Jr. of Manchester, Steve Rousseau Jr. of Weare and Chad Rousseau of Manchester as well as several cousins and many close friends.
Visitation was on Wednesday June 29 from 10 to 11 am at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church 111 Island Pond Rd. in Manchester followed by a funeral service in the church. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary’s name may be made to the VNA Home Health & Hospice Services 1070 Holt Ave. Suite 1400 Manchester, NH 03109 or to the church. The family has entrusted the McHugh Funeral Home with her care.
