Kenneth Perry Donnelly (Kenny), 68, of Raymond NH, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at Epsom Healthcare Center on Tuesday January 5, 2016. He fought a courageous battle with a malignant brain tumor, Glioblastoma Multiforme for six months. Mr. Donnelly was born on May 10, 1947 in Somerville, MA. The son of Thomas and Madeline (Perry) Donnelly. He was raised in Franklin Park North Revere, MA and educated in Revere schools.
Ken joined the U.S. Marine Corps and following boot camp was selected to attend AvnElc School and the Marine Security School, HQMC. He served two years in Vietnam providing security to the Ambassador to Vietnam and the United States Embassy. During his four year enlistment he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Letter of Commendation and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. After being honorably discharged he resided in Nashua NH with his former wife of 24 years Lien Donnelly and was employed as a computer electronics technician. He eventually owned a home entertainment and repair business in Hudson, NH. During his lifetime he explored many hobbies. He was an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) - his call sign, K1PF formerly WA1PPF; he also enjoyed photography, flight simulation and metal detecting. Ken was passionate about playing pool, music and playing guitar which he shared with his nephews Kevin, Eric, Steve and Brian. One of his greatest enjoyments was riding his Harley Davidson, it always brought him happiness and peace and riding strengthened his soul. He was a very inquisitive man, a self proclaimed "info geek" and a critical thinker who thoroughly researched an array of subjects and impressed many with his wealth of knowledge. He was an avid fan of the Patriots and most of all was a very compassionate, thoughtful, caring human being who respectfully questioned authority, enjoyed people and conversation and believed in treating others with simple kindness.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Laura Donnelly and her partner Shawn Bevil, of Tampa, FL., the apples of his eyes, grandchildren Camron and Liana Bevil, and also a "daughter of his heart" Jamie Burkett of Tampa, FL., brother Thomas Donnelly and his wife Elizabeth of Manchester N.H., sister Madeline and her husband Joseph Roberts of Jacksonville FL., sister Carolyn and her husband Joseph Edwards of Haverhill MA. and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents. The Donnelly clan acknowledges, with deep gratitude, the bedside care given to Ken by his daughter, sisters, sister-in-law and Tommy Shambarger, Jolene Dean, Mia, and Little Tommy Jr., also to all who gave him loving care.
There were no calling hours. A committal service with military honors was held on Monday January 11 at 11 am at the NH State Veterans Cemetery 110 Daniel Webster Highway Boscawen, NH.
