John E. Perkins, 75, of Manchester died July 4, 2013 at the Elliot Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 22, 1937 in Manchester the son of F. John and Stefania (Furgal) Perkins and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was educated in the Manchester School System and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School Class of 1955 and was also a 1957 graduate of the former New Hampshire College where he majored in mechanical drafting.
He held engineering positions at Anchor Electric Co. in Manchester and at Teradyne Nashua. He retired from Technical Research and Manufacturing Co. in Bedford. He was the proud holder of one U.S. Patent. John was a six year veteran of the US Army.
He was predeceased by his first wife Myrna (Nicholas) Perkins in 1972 and by his sister Stella Abreu in 2010.
Members of his family include his wife of 39 years Jacqueline A. (Lique) Perkins of Manchester, his two daughters Diana L. Birdsall and her husband Ed Birdsall of Huntington Beach, CA and Pamela M. Wood and her husband Mike Wood of Phoenix, AZ and his five grandchildren Aaron, Anastasia, Moriah, Tirzah and Gloria Wood.
There are no calling hours. Services will be private. The family requests that memorial donations be made in John’s name to the American Heart Association 2 Wall St. Room 104 Manchester, NH 03101 or the American Diabetes Association 132 Middle St. Manchester, NH 03101. The McHugh Funeral Home is assisting the family.
