Gilles J. Cote, 86, of Manchester, died December 2, 2018 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Stoke, Canada on June 27, 1932 the son of Hormidas and Jean (Dubreuil) Cote. He grew up in Canada and was educated in the local school system. He moved to Manchester in 1952.
He was employed as a carpenter for various construction companies most notably the Don Myers Construction Company. Gilles was a talented handyman who could build, remodel and repair anything. He loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing and enjoying nature. He cherished his times getting together with family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather brother and friend.
He was predeceased by his son Daniel M. Cote and by his son-in-law Brian J. Caldwell.
Members of his family include his loving wife of 67 years, Lucille (Gervais) Cote of Manchester, his daughters Louise J. Caldwell of Goffstown and Carol J. Baulier and her husband Matthew of Texas, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday December 8 from 11 am to noon at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Committal Service followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Gilles’ name be made to the American Heart Association 2 Wall St. Room 104 Manchester, NH 03101.
