It is now September of 2025 and  Dr Eiges came to mind. My mother and I were two of his  first patients when he first joined his practice.   We knew immediately we liked him, he had a way of making you feel calm and secure.  He had a heart of gold and made you feel confident when dealing with whatever health issues you were dealing with.  I have a terrible case of White Coat Syndrome,  but Dr Eiges talked to me like a person, not just as a patient which lessened  my fears.  My Mom has recently passed away,, Dr Eiges was so wonderful to her in all the years he was her Doctor. He made her laugh even when she was going through so much with her health. I will always be grateful to him for his kindness.  I of course have found another medical practice , but you Dr Eiges were one of a kind , one in a million. You will always be remembered by me. The other day I saw a commercial for Haagen-dazs ice cream.  Immediately I thought of Rich and how we would buy Haagen- dazs chocolate chocolate chip ice cream, whipped cream and Reeses pieces.  We could eat like that back then!  He introduced me to that delicious combination of  calories and we fixed it often.  It was a fond memory and it made me smile.  He LOVED it!
I hope that you are doing well and I know that today is most likely a hard day so I wanted to share a simple but special memory to hopefully make you smile.  I know he was a very loved and respected man and that you have so much to be proud of.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Take care and stay safe.

Thinking of you today on the four year anniversary of your passing.  The world is in turmoil which makes Missing you that much more intense. Oh how I would love to get your take and knowledge on this unprecedented pandemic. I know you would make me smile and calm down all fears.  You are missed more than you would ever have imagined. He was my internal medicine doc and I considered him a friend.  I miss him greatly. 

Stopped by the office today, and it always leaves me with a heavy heart!  My wife and I were with the practice when it was just starting...... before we were married.    Richard was not just  my physician, but a dear friend and confidant!  He comforted me and our family, when our daughter suffered a massive brain hemorrhage, and he stood by our family with guidance and compassion til his final days.   I miss my friend terribly, and I will never forget him!

It has been 2 years since the world lost a great man. You were a great friend and are missed each and every day!!!!


This morning I reread my nephew's Loving Memories book which I have read several times when Diane and I visit my sister and Randi.
 
Each time I read through this wonderful tribute to Rich I realize how incredible he was in life to us and to his patients, friends, and family.  He was  a "one of a kind person" who contributed so much to the universe.  Richard wasn't our family doctor because we lived 500 miles away; but after a local doctors visit in Asheville, NC, I would check with Rich just to confirm my personal doctor's diagnostic evaluation.  There was even a time when Rich contacted my doctor and his manner was so professional and friendly that our family doctor did not mind talking to the doctor in the family.  It was the best of consults.  Dr. Rich was always there for us as he was for all his patients.
 
As my nephew and friend, Diane and I always so looked forward to seeing Rich.  There was always plenty to talk about especially the world, our country, and  politics.  Rich was so bright and well read.  I always listened carefully to my nephews comments as what he said generally happened just as he said it would.  I would love to have such a conversation with him today given the current political climate.
I keep Rich top of mind and I find myself looking at family photos of him often.  I love him and miss him.

I met Rich when I was a very young nurse and he was a new medical intern. Rich made many difficult days lighter and always made myself and our other colleagues laugh. He was smart, jovial , witty and always brought a smile and a light to the room. You could see his red hair coming from a mile away, and then you knew you were in for a treat, a laugh and a smile. We lost touch over the years after he left St. Barnabas's residency program and started his private  practice. However he never left out hearts. Rest in peace my friend. Thank you for all you did, the lovely memories and making a difficult time much easier and enjoyable.

Today is one year since the world lost an incredible man. Dr Richard Eiges has and will forever be missed with an intensity that's painful , leaving a void in all the lives he touched and healed. He will be remembered forever as my wonderful brother and best friend. My memories will have to suffice and they are filled with so many moments of pure joy , laughter and emotional support.  I know his loved ones and patients hold him securely within their hearts and will always cherish the love, kindness and wisdom he imparted on them. I was a friend of Richard Eiges many years ago when he was still in medical school. He insisted I too had to be a doctor and made sure it happened. As you know if Rich insisted...it was a prophesy. Funeral Speech


For those of you who don't know, I'm Emily Eiges, and  I was Richard Eiges's daughter. 

My Dad, where do I begin. My dad, he was probably one of the smartest people I knew. When I used to have a pain in my hip, my leg, or wherever it may have been, he always used to give me this long explanation about what might have been the cause or he would have used these big long words that no one besides him and other doctors would have understood. 

He was always there for me to rant to when I had problems with my friends just a simple problem in general. He always made me smile no matter how bad the situation was. 

My dad was the most unique person that I knew. While everyone else thought one thing, he stuck to what he thought and didn't feel the need to conform and that was probably the thing that I liked most about him. 

I'm going to miss him so much. The way he made me laugh when he used to dance in around in the kitchen with his plain pajama pants, watching The Walking Dead with him on Thursday nights, and having little arguments over what was going to happen in the next episode. 

Movies were my dad's specialty. He would remember every detail of every movie he had seen. He would remember the actors and actresses and the plot so well. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't even know what a movie was. We used to go downstairs and turn on the big movie screen and watch horror movies and we used to blast the tv so loud that the roof would vibrate under us. We watched so many movies together and we planned on watching many more. One memory I have was when I was about 5 and he took me to go see The Mummy when I had a cold. I tried to continue watching but he took me home after the 10th time I  got up to get a tissue. We walked out together and to this day I just laugh at the fact that he wanted me to see this movie so badly that he brought me to the movies when I was sick. 

My dad was so relatable. I've gone to work with him occasionally and he engages with his patients. He doesn't rush them out of the office. He talks with the patients about what was going on in their life and gave them friendly advice and I think that, that made him the most wonderful doctor and friend. He always made time for me and my brother, he was never too busy to spend time with us. I used to watch my dad and Sean play catch and play baseball together. He used to take me to the movies all the time and when he went to get the popcorn while I was waiting in the theater and when he comes back he had to keep pulling his pants up because they never fit. He made me laugh every second of everyday I was with him. 

My dad wasn't just my dad, he was my best friend. We had shared so much together and I'm going to miss him everyday for the rest of my life. Yesterday, I was looking on Facebook and I saw so many comments and posts saying such sweet words. The words that stuck out the most to me were each day is a gift even if it isn't exactly what we hoped for There was no doubt that my dad didn't live every day and every moment to the fullest. I am so incredibly proud to say that this genuine, humble, brilliant man was my father.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Eiges' passing. I was a patient of his for many years until I moved and even referred my sister to him. He was so genuinely interested in his patients' lives. He spoke so highly of his family, especially his children. I always looked forward to seeing him and catching up.  His kind spirit was so appreciated in a world where so often patients have no true connection with a physician. Bless his soul and comfort his family.

I just found out about the passing of Dr. Eiges. He was not my doctor but I'm so certain he was a wonderful doctor to his patients. I'm very saddened to hear this shocking news. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

I just heard of the passing of dr. eiges. It was shocking to hear but he is now in heaven with my husband Dennis who passed last year.  they are orobably laughing or playing cards together now.  Rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear that Dr. Eiges passed away.  He was my doctor for many years and I will never forget his warmth, kindness and humanity.  He was a ready listener, and always gave me practical advice.  It is easy to picture sitting at the office, chatting with him about medical issues, and everything else under the sun.

Dr. Eiges has been my doctor for over 20 years. I always looked forward to annual visits where he was so concerned and encouraging. It was like a visit to a trusted friend you knew your whole life. We were the same age, and whenever I complained about something new, he commiserated and said "I know, I have the exact same thing!" In recent years I brought my adult daughter to him and they had the best discussions on politics and the Middle East. Once I was so concerned about my mother (not his patient!) and he took his time to explain things to me medically and encourage me. This is unheard of in this day and age, as doctors back out of the room as I ask questions, but so like him! I always had his complete attention and felt like I was his only patient in the world. We would even bring him some Walking Dead memorabilia/items, which we said he could put on his desk, but he always brought them home to his daughter, Emily.  He was the kindest man and the most caring and compassionate doctor we  have ever had the pleasure to know.  Whenever you left his office, you felt assured that he truly cared about you and your health. He gave great advice.  He always had a smile on his face.  He always made you feel special.  We will miss him immensely.  He was brilliant in his work.  He was one of those people, who left his special place in your heart. I met Dr. Eiges years ago when he worked in an Immediate Care type clinic in Hightstown, years later we reconnected in Manalapan.  I thought he and I had a unique doctor patient relationship.  I heard of his passing from a letter sent out by his business partner.  Having visited this site and after reading all of these posts I realize my relationship with Dr. Eiges wasn't all that unique. He was a very very special person.  Everything I read is true.  His family & friends should be very proud of his life's work.  I am truly sorry for your loss.

He talks with the patients about what was going on in their life and gave them friendly advice and I think that, that made him the most wonderful doctor and friend. He always made time for me and my brother, he was never too busy to spend time with us. I used to watch my dad and Sean play catch and play baseball together. He used to take me to the movies all the time and when he went to get the popcorn while I was waiting in the theater and when he comes back he had to keep pulling his pants up because they never fit. He made me laugh every second of everyday I was with him. 

My dad wasn't just my dad, he was my best friend. We had shared so much together and I'm going to miss him everyday for the rest of my life. Yesterday, I was looking on Facebook and I saw so many comments and posts saying such sweet words. The words that stuck out the most to me were each day is a gift even if it isn't exactly what we hoped for There was no doubt that my dad didn't live every day and every moment to the fullest. I am so incredibly proud to say that this genuine, humble, brilliant man was my father.

My wife and I were patients of Dr.. Eiges. for many years. Dr.  Eiges  always found time to listen and talk about both your medical and  personal concerns. My wife Margaret( (who passed away in May of 2014) had a particular fondness for him.The news of his passing was  a shock as I had just visited with him on April 24th. I have gone to Dr.Eigas for over 20 years. During that time Dr. Eigas was compassionate, caring and an unbelievable diagnostician.
He would talk about all kinds of subjects and always gave me time to discuss whatever I needed to. He was a rare individual, and I don't think I will ever find a doctor like him.

He was my doctor from the start of his practice. Because of his compassion and kindness when I moved I traveled a total of three hours to see him. He was a vibrant caring person who listened and made time for you.  I can't believe he is gone.   My sincere condolences to his family.  Please remember during this very sad time that he was loved and respected by so very many people, and improved the life of all those who were lucky enough to have him as a doctor.

It's apparent from all these entries how much Dr. Eiges will be missed. He has been my doctor since I was around 14 years old. I'm now 40. He always took the time to talk with me about my life and always seemed genuinely interested in our conversations. He never rushed me out. He always spoke about his children and how proud he was of them. I've never met a doctor that was not only great at his profession but truly cared about his patients as much as he did. He was a one in a million and will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

My family and I were so shocked and saddened by his passing.  We were one of the first patients he had with Dr. Stark.  Dr. Eiges was compassionate and was one of the best diagnostic physicians we ever knew.  He was a real Mensch.

I just found out this morning about Dr. Eiges and I just can't seem to get over the news.  I've been a patient of Dr. Eiges since I got married and moved down here from north Jersey in 1991.  He always listened, was so caring and compassionate but was more than just a doctor, he was a friend.  We talked about our children, politics and just life in general.  He loved his family so much, always talked about how proud he was of his children.  My deepest condolences go out to his whole family.  I will miss Dr. Eiges so much. I still just can't believe the news.  RIP Dr. Eiges.

We saw Dr. Eiges a week before we heard the shocking news.  He was our doctor for many years.  He was kind, caring and very knowledgeable (a great diagnostician).  He always gave us his time when we had medical or personal concerns.  
We always knew when he came into the exam room that there would first be a conversation with him about politics or his newest favorite movie or tv series that he liked and wanted us to watch.  Discussions were always lively, interesting and fun.  
We were glad to see how happy his life was with Cheryl and how proud he was of his children. 
We will miss him so much.

I can't believe he's gone.  He was my doctor for 25 years and one of the best people I know.  It was like seeing a buddy when I went to his office. We would talk about various things after my exams. I know not what to say, other then Richard was more than just my family doctor in many ways he was my friend. We often joked and I would get him lottery tickets, a tradition I started many years ago...it was our on going joke Richard's and Paul's runaway money. Our last talk was how much more important our families, friends and health was than any amount of money. He was a great guy and wonderful caring doctor... He will be missed by myself and many.
