Manahawkin
Thomas W. Vogel, Jr. of Manahawkin born on August 8th, 1952 and passed away Dec. 26, 2011 peacefully at his home. Tom proudly served in the U.S.M.C. from 1970 - 1976. Upon leaving the military, he pursued a career in law enforcement. He served 27 years with the Stafford Police Dept. Among his accomplishments, he was instrumental in forming the 1st motorcycle unit in Stafford. He was proud of teaching at the Ocean County Police Academy. Tom was an active member of the VFW American Legion, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. Tom believed in God, country and honor and tried to live his life that way.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Vogel; daughter, Tiffany Green; daughter, Nikole Vogel and son, Thomas Vogel and 4 grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his brother, Alan Vogel and sister-in-law, Helen Vogel. Tom was also well-loved and is truly missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and numerous close friends.
Visitation will be at the Thos L Shinn Funeral Home Monday, January 2 from 6 -8PM with a service that night at the funeral home at 8PM. A second visitation will be on Tuesday from 10-12 Noon with a service at Cedar Run Assembly of God in Cedar Run NJ.
